About Us

Family and Friends of the Visually Impaired People Initiative (FAF-VIPI) is a registered non-governmental organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals who are blind or visually impaired within school age, as well as providing guidance and support to their families, caregivers, and communities to enable them understand their roles and responsibilities in the lives of visually impaired people.

At FAF-VIPI, we believe that visual impairment should not be a barrier to education, employment, independence, or social inclusion. Our organization works to foster understanding, compassion, and empowerment through education, advocacy, and practical support.

The Challenge: In the society where we are today, visually impaired individuals that are within school age are sidelined. In some families they are not given the same opportunity to be educated like their mates sometimes due to:

  • Lack of financial resources
  • Lack of information
  • Lack of concern for them due to their disability
  • Misplaced priorities

Our core objectives include:

  • Promoting awareness and inclusion of persons with visual impairments that are within school age in all aspects of society.
  • Providing capacity-building programs, training, and counseling for families and caregivers to enhance their ability to support visually impaired loved ones.
  • Facilitating access to information, education, and vocational opportunities for the visually impaired community.
  • Building partnerships and collaborations with relevant institutions, government agencies, and stakeholders to strengthen advocacy and service delivery.

Through our initiatives, we strive to create an inclusive environment where persons with visual impairments are respected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
